Teeth that are chipped, worn, discolored, or slightly misaligned can all make a smile appear less than ideal. Porcelain veneers are an excellent
option for fixing these and other imperfections that are noticeable in the front teeth. A veneer is a thin shell of durable porcelain that is
bonded to the front of a tooth to change its appearance. They can be used to fix one tooth or several teeth. We can even place veneers on all of
the front teeth for a complete smile makeover! The glassy composition of porcelain resists staining, and reflects light in a similar way to that
of natural tooth structure giving it a real and genuine tooth appearance. The porcelain is made to match the color of adjacent teeth so that they
seamlessly blend in with your natural teeth. In most cases, it is difficult to determine which tooth has the veneer and which tooth does not. In
some instances, you may choose to revamp your entire smile. With this option we can literally choose the color and shape of your teeth!
The process begins with a smile analysis. During this visit, Dr. Hancock will discuss your smile concerns with you and devise a plan to correct
everything. It is good idea to bring pictures of smiles that you feel are ideal or desirable to this appointment so the Dr. Hancock can completely
understand the type of smile you want to realize. Occasionally it is necessary for a mock up of your new smile to be created to ensure that we are
giving you the smile that you want. At the subsequent appointment, your teeth will be reshaped to allow for the changes to your smile. Dr. Hancock
will fabricate temporary veneer(s) with the new changes to your smile. An impression will be made of your teeth after the reshaping has been
completed so that a custom porcelain veneer can be made to correct the imperfection or give you the smile you've always wanted. With the proper
care, porcelain veneers are extremely long-lasting.
