A root canal is a common dental procedure in which the vital pulp or living tissue of the tooth is removed and replaced with filling material
that seals the tooth off from its surrounding environment. Treatment is typically needed to treat an infection associated with the pulp or
eliminate a toothache or pain secondary to trauma. Fortunately, toot canal treatment is successful in about 90% of cases and will often
significantly extend the life of the tooth. The procedure itself involves making a conservative access preparation in the affected tooth.
Using state of the art instrumentation, Dr. Hancock will remove the injured pulp and thoroughly clean the canals before sealing them.
The procedure can often be accomplished in one visit but may require multiple visits depending on severity of the situation and difficulty of
treatment. Following treatment, your tooth may still be sensitive but will often subside as the inflammation diminishes and tooth heals.
